USADF LEARNING HUB - DIGITAL / WHATSAPP
The USADF Learning Hub is a groundbreaking initiative conceptualized, developed, and designed in collaboration with the United States African Development Foundation (USADF) and Visa. This platform empowers African entrepreneurs by providing access to essential business training materials through an innovative and highly accessible format tailored to their needs.
At the core of this initiative is the Learning Management System (LMS), designed to not only deliver content but also assess its absorption and relevance to the entrepreneurs' real-world challenges. In a pioneering move, the LMS was built using WhatsApp as the primary platform, leveraging its widespread use across Africa to ensure accessibility for young entrepreneurs, even in remote areas. This approach makes the USADF Learning Hub one of the first of its kind on the continent.
This innovative platform highlights the commitment to breaking barriers to education and equipping African entrepreneurs with the knowledge and skills they need to build sustainable businesses and drive economic growth.
The pilot program, focused on Kenya and Senegal, served as a critical testing ground, paving the way for a potential expansion to 19 additional countries across Africa.
Shift Impact Africa played a key role in delivering the pilot phase of the USADF Learning Management System (LMS), which ran for 81 days from July 12 to September 30, 2024. This phase was designed to evaluate the platform’s effectiveness in delivering practical business training to entrepreneurs.
Key outcomes of the pilot include:
High Participant Satisfaction: Entrepreneurs reported a strong level of satisfaction with the platform, indicating its effectiveness in meeting their training needs.
Validation for Expansion: The success of the pilot provided compelling evidence to support the rollout of the program across more African countries.
By offering relevant and practical business training, the USADF Learning Hub demonstrates significant potential to strengthen entrepreneurship across the continent. Its scalable approach is poised to contribute to the growth, sustainability, and resilience of African businesses, aligning with the broader vision of empowering Africa’s entrepreneurs.
